The IDP SMART Series printers are manufactured by IDP Corporation. Easy to Validate – Hard to Duplicate IDP is pleased to launch our new SMARTMark security feature! This new enhanced security feature is similar to a watermark or a color-shifting ink and will add an additional layer of security to your Photo IDs

The SMARTMark element can be an image, a logo, static text, or variable text. IDP can assist in the creation of your custom image or you can choose from one of the images we provide for free.

SMARTMark Security has three options:

SMARTMark Security – uses the printers standard “O” panel from the YMCKO ribbon. The printer uses the O panel to print an image or text while still maintaining the cards full protection against dye-migration and fading. The final printed effect is similar to a latent holographic image

SMARTMark UV Security – uses the YMCFKO UV ribbon and the printer uses the F (florescent/ultraviolet) panel to print an image or text. The final printed effect is invisible to the naked eye but is easily recognized by trained staff using a UV / black light.

SMARTMarkOP Security – uses a YMCPKO pearlescent ribbon and the printer uses the P (pearlescent) panel to print an image or text. The final printed effect is similar to a color- shifting ink seen on currency or other government documents. These highly secure features are inexpensive and easy to implement by uploading bitmap images to IDP SMART driver or by using IDP SMART iDesigner credential software.

Laminate

IDP offers three types of laminates – clear, clear with smart chip cutouts and stock and custom holograms. IDP laminates provide a layer of protection over your printed cards, making them more durable by providing protection from wear and fading. While clear laminates offer standard protection, hologram laminates go further by embedding a holographic watermark to your ID cards, securing your cards from tampering and counterfeiting. IDP offers generic stock holograms that are readily available. Three vertical market holograms are available are “Official Fire/ Rescue”, “Authentic Law Enforcement”, and “Official Medical”. We also offer three more generic holograms called “Globe Secure”, “Globe Flags”, and “Secure Waves”. Finally, IDP offers a clear laminate that adds to the cards life, but does not have a holographic image. IDP offers custom holograms with minimum order requirement of 60 rolls for the 51 Series and 40 rolls for the 70 Series and WISE Series. Custom hologram originations are unique to your organization and will be held in a secured facility to ensure the protection of your brand imagery. IDP offers various levels of originations – Levels 1 to 5. (Please see IDP’s Laminate Buyers Guide for more details)

Stock and Custom Holograms IDP’s Stock and Custom Holograms increase the levels of security and add value to the life your ID Cards. Stock holograms are generic image laminates that IDP offers to all authorized resellers. There are no minimum order requirements for stock holograms, so small and large organizations can take advantage of their benefits. IDP also offers custom holograms. Custom holograms are unique and designed specifically for a customer. They are only made available to customer authorized assigned dealers. IDP will assist in designing a hologram using a customers’ imagery and will create unique security features using appropriate layers of security (noted below). Custom holograms require a minimum order of 60 to 80 rolls (depending on the laminator). Stock and Custom hologram laminates are constructed from 1mil patch film meets or exceeds US Driving License standards for durability. Get more security and life from your ID Cards. Levels of Security Holographic security is divided into three levels and within each level there are specific holographic features: • Level One Overt Features - these features are visible to the naked eye such as rainbow, grayscale, and true coloring. As well as switch images (an image changes from one image to another by tilting the card), guilloche patterns, and wireframe text. Level One holograms are originated at up to 600dpi. • Level Two Overt Features - these features require some training and or a tool to see, such as color-shifting inks, security inks (UV/IR), micro- text, latent images, and covert laser retrievable images (CLR). Level Two holograms are originated at up to 1200dpi. • Level Three Forensic Features - these features are visible only to trained individuals. They are hidden to a point where even the employees manufacturing the holograms are on a need-to-know basis.
